Prime Minister of the Independent State of Samoa
‍ Hon. La'aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt is the Prime Minister of the Independent State of Samoa and the leader of the Government of Samoa.

Following the 2025 General Election, the Faatuatua ile Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) Party, led by Hon. La'aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt, secured 30 of the 51 seats contested in the Legislative Assembly. The newly elected Parliament convened on 16 September 2025.

Parliamentary Representation
Hon. La'aulialemalietoa represents the Gagaifomauga No. 3 constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Samoa.He has served Samoa through a number of parliamentary and governmental responsibilities. Prior to becoming Prime Minister, he served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016 and held ministerial responsibilities, including the portfolio of Agriculture and Fisheries.

Role as Prime Minister
As Prime Minister, Hon. La'aulialemalietoa provides leadership to the Government of Samoa and oversees the coordination of government priorities and national development initiatives.The Prime Minister represents Samoa in official regional and international engagements and works with government ministries, constitutional bodies, development partners and international organisations in advancing Samoa's national interests.His responsibilities also include providing leadership on matters of national policy, governance, economic and social development, international relations and the effective delivery of government services.

Government Leadership
The Prime Minister works closely with Cabinet and government ministries and agencies to implement the Government's priorities and support Samoa's continued development.
Through the Government of Samoa, the Prime Minister also represents the country at regional and international forums and in official diplomatic engagements.

Official Recognition
The Samoa Airport Authority recognises the Office of the Prime Minister as a central institution of Samoa's national government and acknowledges the Prime Minister's role in providing leadership and direction on matters concerning the development and advancement of Samoa.
